We received funding from the district to provide a Dual Language Enrichment Program for rising Kindergarten to 5th grade Valdez students. The intent of the program is to provide free academic support and language enrichment to Valdez students during the summer. The program would start on June 6th and run through June 30th from 8:30am to 11:30am.
If you are interested in having your child(ren) attend the DL Enrichment Program please fill out this registration form by May 5th.
Child care will be available from 11:30 to 3:30 for $35 a day or until 5:30 for $45. Register here by May 5th for summer after school child care.

Recibimos fondos del distrito para proporcionar un Programa de enriquecimiento de lenguaje dual para los estudiantes de Valdez que ingresarán a kinder a quinto grado. La intención del programa es brindar apoyo académico gratuito y enriquecimiento del lenguaje a los estudiantes de Valdez durante el verano. We have designed a specific event for your grade level event where you can come and simply enjoy! Everyone is welcome at all of the events—and each event is targeted for the grade level.
These are great opportunities for families to connect and have fun!

On Wednesday, May 3rd, NED’s Mindset Mission is coming to Valdez to present an assembly about growth mindset!
“The assembly introduces a cartoon boy named NED who is on a very important mission: to find his mindset. Led by clues and memorable characters, he overcomes Mt. Everest’s toughest obstacles, uncovers inner-treasures on a Caribbean island, and grows his brain while repairing a sputtering spaceship. Throughout the performance, your students discover how to activate their growth mindset to overcome social, emotional and academic challenges.”

The week of May 15th will be the last week that classes will check out books from the library.
Overdue notices will be emailed to families for overdue books the next couple weeks.
ALL library books must be returned by May 26th.
Please help your students find and return any overdue school library books. If your student has lost a book we appreciate it if the book can be replaced. Contact Mrs. Meza if you have any questions.

The Annual Family Update is the DPS registration confirmation process, where families are asked to provide or update student and family information, including emergency contacts, health information and more. The “Early Bird” window to complete this for next school year is May 8-19. It helps our office staff tremendously when our returning families complete the Annual Family Update during this early window, so please mark your calendars. More information about how to complete this update will be included in the next few newsletters.

We need help! We are bringing back the Valdez in person all school talent show. This is an opportunity for students to showcase their talents across the arts, sports, whatever their hearts desire. We encourage students to work together and we will showcase 2 acts per grade level in the show. We need parent volunteers to help put the show together (stream the songs, etc) and for day of run of show. Please email jessica_buckley@dpsk12.net if you can help.

FREE Community Music Classes April 29 & 30, 2023 Mark your calendar now! The Metropolitan State University of Denver Music Department, in collaboration with the Latino Cultural Arts Center, the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, Rocky RidgeMusic Center, and the Denver Municipal Band, present a weekend of musical activities for all ages. All classes are free, and in some cases, instruments will be provided. Class sizes will be limited, so be sure to click here to RSVP and reserve your spot!
