School Dismissal is 3:10pm. There are no more enrichment classes this year. If you are late, you need to make other arrangements for your child(ren). We charge $1 per minute per child left in the office starting at 3:25pm. Thank you for your support in caring for all of our students!

The Dia del Niño celebration will be one more opportunity to work as a community in our Climate Action Grant goal of reducing trash. Reusable cups and food containers will be available during the event from r. Wold. We used the same company for the Family Dance and our harvest rate (percentage of items returned) was 98%. Let’s try to have a higher percentage this time! Look for the marked trash cans.

My name is Aida Kline and I am thrilled to have been selected as the new Assistant Principal at Valdez Elementary starting this fall. I am originally from Colombia and come with 17 years of experience in Dual Language Schools as a teacher, Instructional coach and administrator.
I live in Lakewood with my husband and two daughters (senior and freshman), as well as my dog, Kika. We enjoy watching movies and trying new spots with authentic South American cuisine.
I look forward to meeting each of you, families and students, and working in partnership with the amazing Valdez community to create great things together.

Soy Aida Kline y estoy muy emocionada de haber sido seleccionada como la nueva subdirectora de la Escuela primaria Valdez al inicio del otoño. Soy originalmente de Colombia y tengo 17 años de experiencia en escuelas bilingües como maestra, asesora de maestros y administradora.
Vivo en Lakewood con mi esposo, mis dos hijas (grados 9 y 12), al igual que nuestra perrita Kika. Nos gusta ver películas y también disfrutamos encontrar sitios de comida auténtica suramericana.
Espero llegar a conocerlos a todos, familias y estudiantes, y trabajar mano a mano con la hermosa comunidad de Valdez para crear grandes cosas juntos.

SAVE THE DATE! Monday, May 13th in the morning – Annual Mother’s Day Event and Performance: Kinder and 4th grade will be performing during this Valdez tradition that celebrates all the women in our community. There will be student speakers from each class and all students will sing one song together. Please plan to drop off your student in the morning as usual and then proceed to the auditorium to be seated for the concert. Auditorium doors open at 8:10am, extremely limited seating available. Program begins at 8:25am.

We need help! We will continue our talent show tradition once again this year. This is an opportunity for students to showcase their talents across the arts, sports, or whatever their hearts desire. We encourage students to work together and we will showcase about 5 acts per grade level in the show. We need parent volunteers to help put the show together; we hope many of you can help.

K-5 Field Day is around the corner and you are all invited on Friday, May 17th. Please feel free to follow your children around through stations and help as needed.
Field day will run from 9:00-11:00am for K-2nd and 1:00 to 3:00pm for 3rd-5th. All students are expected to return to their classrooms at 3:00 to follow regular dismissal time at 3:10 pm.
Students are expected to wear school Power shirts, fun run shirts or uniforms, as it is a regular school day. They should wear outdoor shoes/shorts/pants (no sandals). It is school spirit day and students may wear crazy socks or have crazy hair/hats if they wish. We also recommend you send them with a small bottle of sunscreen to use before heading out.

The Northwest Community Hub @ Colfax will have the Denver Health Mobile clinic onsite 3 dates in May. They want to share this opportunity with Valdez families.
Call, text or email the NW hub for available appointment times.
The mobile unit can see ages 2 and up for: General Care and Physical Visit, Preventative and Cancer Screening, Cardiovascular Diseases (stable CVD), Lung Diseases, Urinary Diseases, Behavioral and more. They can set up prescriptions to be picked up at a preferred pharmacy. Patients can be uninsured, underinsured and insured.
