The City and County of Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure wants to know what you think of recently completed transportation projects. Students from 2-5 grade have been busy since the beginning of the year making sure that food waste ended in the compost bin after each lunch period. However, our first graders still needed some logistical help to make that happen.
Today we would like to highlight Ms. Gaby’s support in problem solving and supporting the 1st graders to compost their food waste too… it’s been a week and it’s going strong! ALL THE STUDENTS WHO HAVE LUNCH IN THE CAFETERIA ARE BEING RESPONSIBLE HANDLING THEIR WASTE AND TAKING CARE OF OUR PLANET AS A RESULT.
Next time you see Ms. Gaby thank her for all the hard work she does in the cafeteria!

The City and County Denver, Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) is seeking DPS student artists for the “Denver Diversion Rolling Gallery.” DSWM will show off DPS student artwork on the side of collection trucks, travelling throughout the entire City of Denver. That is nearly 32 square feet of “canvas”! DPS student artists shall create an original piece that highlights the importance of reducing waste in Denver while adding a bit of flair to the city. In selecting the artists who will participate, the DSWM will prioritize artwork that encourages residents to divert waste properly.
THEME: This year’s theme is “Keep Denver Beautiful!”
RULES: Be original, attend DPS, and be in ECE through 12th grade during the 2025-2026 school year. Each group will have at least one winner. Students will be grouped together by grade range. The groups are:
SUBMISSION DATE: October 29th to 11:59 p.m. December 19th.
WINNERS: Winning students will have their submission added to the “Denver Diverts Rolling Gallery” truck signs.

La Ciudad y el Condado de Denver, a través del Departamento de Manejo de Residuos Sólidos (DSWM, por sus siglas en inglés), está buscando artistas estudiantiles de DPS para participar en la “Galería Rodante de Desviación de Denver”.
El DSWM exhibirá el arte de los estudiantes de DPS en los camiones de recolección que recorren toda la ciudad de Denver. ¡Eso representa casi 32 pies cuadrados de lienzo!
Los estudiantes deberán crear una obra original que resalte la importancia de reducir los desechos en Denver, agregando un toque de creatividad y estilo a la ciudad.

We conducted our monthly fire drill on Wednesday, November 19th. All students did a great job evacuating the building quickly and calmly. We will have fire drills once a month as required by DPS.
On Thursday, September 4th, we had our regular safety drill training with the DPS Department of Safety. All students and staff practiced a school “lockdown” with doors locked, lights off, and everyone out of sight, and a “secure perimeter” drill with outside building doors locked.

Realizamos nuestro simulacro de incendio mensual el miércoles 19 de noviembre. Todos los estudiantes hicieron un gran trabajo evacuando el edificio rápidamente y tranquilamente. Tendremos simulacros de incendio una vez al mes según lo requiera DPS.
El jueves 4 de septiembre tuvimos nuestro entrenamiento regular de simulacros de seguridad con el Departamento de Seguridad de DPS. Todos los estudiantes y el personal practicaron un “encierro” escolar con las puertas cerradas, las luces apagadas y todos fuera de la vista, y un simulacro de “perímetro de seguridad” con las puertas exteriores del edificio cerradas.
