This landmark law transformed public education by guaranteeing services and supports for students with disabilities from birth through age 21, ensuring access and opportunity for all learners. Programa Familiar de Lenguaje aims to provide opportunities for language development and family bonding. This is offered through play-and-learn classes that use songs, games, books, and crafts to encourage conversational turns between adults and children to develop language skills. Our program not only prepares children for success in school but also empowers caregivers with the tools and resources to feel supported in being their first teachers. We celebrate this day together as a school, acknowledging both Halloween and Día de los Muertos as separate holidays. We will have different activities for students who do not celebrate Halloween or Día de los Muertos, please advise your teachers if your child needs an alternative activity.
Students may bring a costume in a bag to put on in the afternoon and celebrate Halloween. Costumes may not have weapons, blood, be gory or inappropriate. We also do not allow masks that completely cover faces.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
1:30 K-5th grades Halloween Parade
2:00 2nd and 3rd grades Concert: All families are invited
ECE, K, 1st, 4th, 5th grades will be having classroom parties at this time, they will NOT come to the auditorium to watch the concert
3:10 Regular Dismissal, NO Enrichment classes.
3:30 to 5:00 pm: Art Show and Día de los muertos activities for all students. All children must be picked up at the regular dismissal time (3:10 pm) and must be accompanied by an adult to participate in the after-school activities. Please note that there will be no staff available to supervise students after school.
Celebramos este día juntos como escuela, reconociendo tanto Halloween como el Día de los Muertos son días festivos separados. Tendremos diferentes actividades para los estudiantes que no celebran Halloween o el Día de los Muertos, por favor avise a sus maestros si su hijo/a necesita una actividad alternativa.
Los estudiantes pueden traer un disfraz en una bolsa para ponérselo por la tarde y celebrar Halloween. Los disfraces no pueden tener armas, sangre, ser sangrientos o inapropiados. Tampoco permitimos máscaras que cubran completamente la cara.
El horario de la jornada es el siguiente:
1:30 Desfile de Halloween para grados K-5
2:00 Concierto de 2do y 3er grado: Todas las familias están invitadas.
ECE, K, 1º, 4º, 5º grados: Habrá fiestas en el salón de clases a esta hora, NO vendrán al auditorio a ver el concierto.
3:10 Horario de salida regular, NO clases de enriquecimiento
3:30 a 5:00 pm: Exposición de Arte y actividades del Día de los Muertos para todos los estudiantes. Todos los niños deben ser recogidos a la hora regular de salida (3:10 pm) y deben estar acompañados por un adulto para participar en las actividades después de la escuela. Tenga en cuenta que no habrá personal disponible para supervisar a los estudiantes después de clases.

Welcome back to school! School Safety at Valdez will be a regular section in the PNews.
We conducted our monthly fire drill on Friday, September 26th. All students evacuated the building quickly and calmly and did a great job with our practice. We will have fire drills once a month as required by DPS.
On Thursday, September 4th, we had our regular safety drill training with the DPS Department of Safety. All students and staff practiced a school “lockdown” with doors locked, lights off, and everyone out of sight, and a “secure perimeter” drill with outside building doors locked.
We appreciate your support of our drill practices. Our number one priority is always the safety of everyone in the building. More information about drills can be found here.

¡Bienvenidos de regreso a la escuela! Seguridad escolar en Valdez será una sección regular en el PNews.
Realizamos nuestro simulacro de incendio mensual el viernes 26 de septiembre. Todos los estudiantes evacuaron el edificio rápidamente y con calma, e hicieron un gran trabajo en nuestra práctica. Tendremos simulacros de incendio una vez al mes según lo requiera DPS.
El jueves 4 de septiembre tuvimos nuestro entrenamiento regular de simulacros de seguridad con el Departamento de Seguridad de DPS. Todos los estudiantes y el personal practicaron un “encierro” escolar con las puertas cerradas, las luces apagadas y todos fuera de la vista, y un simulacro de “perímetro de seguridad” con las puertas exteriores del edificio cerradas.
